Pediatric Surgery

 

The most common performed pediatric surgeries are inguinal and umbilical hernia's.

These procedures are low risk.

Preoperative assessment by the anesthesiology department are is mandatory and imperative to ensure safe surgery.

 

Classification Surgery: Minor-Medium

Anesthesia: General (Full intubation and sedation)

 

Expected hospital stay: daycare hospitalisation

 

Complications and measures

All surgery under general or regional anesthesia carries systemic risks  such as deep venous thrombosis, lungembolus, cardiovascular complications: These risks are minimised through preoperative screening procedures and prophylactic(preventing) measures

Specific complications due to this surgery:

-Wound infection (low chance, less than 5%)
